Islands Tanning, a Local Success Story!

In these tough economic times there is no shortage of stories about businesses constricting or even closing. However, right here in Tualatin there is a very positive story emerging. Islands Tanning is not only surviving, they are thriving.

Local Tualatin residents Jon & Becca Guyette opened Islands Tanning in 2001 and their success has spiraled ever since. Combining Becca’s 15 years of experience in the tanning industry with Jon’s 10 years of management in the automotive industry they found the perfect formula for success.

After their flagship Tualatin location achieved a tremendous record of success and solid footing for 3 years, they began an aggressive growth plan which involved opening 2-3 stores per year.

With each new location their methods became more refined and have streamlined the concept to such a degree that they are now selling franchises to investors who wish to gain from their learning curve and enjoy the sort of success Jon and Becca are seeing. “For a new franchisee, we will assist in selecting and building out a location, establish policies & procedures, training and assisting with the back end of the business. In a nutshell we offer a turn key operation that makes it possible for an absentee owner to be successful by using our proven methods.”

Jon and Becca’s passion for superior customer service is obvious. “As owners and employees of the company, we live and die for customer service and the growth of our company.”

The Guyette’s have lived in Tualatin for 15 years and support a vast array of Tualatin sports teams, charities, schools, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, local dance teams and many others. As Jon says, “We have been proud sponsors of anything Tualatin related.”

At their 7th annual Hawaii Giveaway raffle on September 19th, they raised over $1,100 for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital as well as raffling off a Hawaiian vacation which was won by a local family.

While Jon and Becca Guyette have built a very solid local business which began right here in Tualatin, their journey will certainly have an impact on a much larger level as they move forward with their franchise program.
