ART CLASSES

BEGINNING AND ADVANCED WATERCOLOR CLASSES. Award-winning artist Linda Aman (formerly of Tualatin, now in Boise) offers personal assistance with materials provided for use in class. Her popular classes will be held Sunday, March 5, 1:30-5:30 p.m. or Monday, March 6 and Tuesday, March 7 , 9-1 a.m. or 1:30-5:30 p.m. both days. $30 per class. MIXED MEDIA TERRIFIC TULIPS. Friday, March 3, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Learning to use your watercolor painting skills along with mixed media, collage, pen, etc. creating textures for a unique personal design. Will be using an Aquabord and you can bring old paintings to re-purpose. $95 fee includes materials used in class. Please bring sack lunch.

PAINTING AN IRIS. Saturday, March 4, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Learn the challenging techniques of painting iris petals. Receive a lot of individual attention. Bring a ¼ sheet of Arches stretched or contact Linda who will prepare one. $95 fee includes materials used in class. Please bring sack lunch.

Saturday, March 4, 2 p.m. WORLD WAR II CHILD, ANNEKE BLOOMFIELD Ages 18+ In this program Anneke discusses her childhood in The Hague; how her family adopted a religious lifestyle in an effort to escape Nazi extremism; and she details the three times her parents sent her away to live with gentile families outside of The Hague in an effort to save her from persecution. Wednesday, March 1, 1 p.m. THE SURPRISING ADVENTURES OF GEORGE GIBBS, 1884-1861: Dr. Stephen Beckham, emeritus history professor at Lewis and Clark College, describes little-known contributions of this artist, writer and Indian treaty expert to Oregon history. Donations accepted.

Thursday, March 16, 7 p.m. RELIVE THE GOLDEN AGE OF RADIO Old-time radio expert Dick Karman exhibits radios and replays examples of popular programs dating 50-70 years ago. Re-live memories of Jack Benny and Superman in this soundtrack of your life. Donations accepted.

SECOND SATURDAY COMMUNITY CONCERT, March 11 featuring Cal Scott in concert, 7:30 p.m. Musical director, Oregon Trail Band, Cal Scott (cornet, mandolin, guitar, keyboards) has been a composer, producer, and leader of musical ensembles for over 25 years. Cal has composed the scores for more than forty PBS documentaries and specials, and films in visitor’s centers in National Parks all over the US feature Cal’s music. COMING NEXT MONTH

Friday, April 7 2-3 p.m. WALK THROUGH TIME A series of Ice Age floods, bursting down from the Montana and Canadian border, over 15,000 years ago, define Tualatin’s geography and left lasting clues about prehistoric life here. Join this walk along the Tualatin Greenway and Art Walk to visit interpretive information and geological artifacts that tell the story of Tualatin’s landscape and its earliest animal inhabitants. Meet by the Story Time sculpture in front of the Tualatin Public Library.

ARBOR DAY STORYTIMES AT THE LIBRARY Celebrate Arbor Week at Storytime! Our toddler, preschool & family storytimes will all feature the best tree stories you’ve ever heard. Saturday, April 22, 7 p.m. VINE2WINE (ages 21 and up) Now in its 7th year, Vine2Wine will highlight the diversity of Oregon wineries with wines from Southern, Central and Eastern Oregon wine regions. As in past years, wine-paired food will be provided and the evening will be rounded out with live music by Two Spirit Jazz throughout the event. Event admission is $45.00 per person with proceeds going to the Tualatin Library Foundation endowment. $45 admission includes wine tasting, food, music and a complementary Riedel wine glass. MEMORY CAFÉ

Social Group for laughter, camaraderie and understanding: 2nd Wednesday of every month, 2:00-3:00pm @ Famous Dave’s BBQ Tualatin. Do you care for someone who has Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia? Imagine a setting in which you’re given the opportunity to socialize in a safe setting with other folks like you! BICYCLING

The Great Ride Series – Saturday mornings at 9:00am. Beginner level starting and ending at Performance Bicycle Tualatin. The ride is for beginners, those getting back in the saddle, or riders who want to add some variety to their cycling. The ride will last approximately one hour, and will go at an average pace of between 12 and 15 miles per hour. We’ll explore some of the local bike paths and some residential routes, as well. “No Rider Left Behind” ride.
