The leaves are falling and Autumn’s calling – one of my personal favorite times of the year, and there is so much to do in our fine city! October 20th kicks off what has become one of Tualatin’s, and for that matter, Oregon’s most popular events: The West Coast Pumpkin Regatta. With costumed characters, 1,000+ pound pumpkins, and a cult-like following, the Regatta is expecting to draw up to 20,000 visitors this year! Get there early and you can also join the 2018 Regatta Run 5K Run or Walk – a great way to have fun and help raise money for the Cpl. Matthew Lembke Memorial Scholarship Fund, benefiting several deserving TuHS students each year. For more information, see pages 13-16.

Tualatin Life is proud to help sponsor the 2018 Candidate Election Forum next week. Tualatin Life has a long record of advocating for our readers to get involved with the local political process and this is an excellent opportunity to come out and listen to what our local candidates have to say. In addition to voting for representatives at the State, County and Local level, for the first time in a couple of decades, Tualatin will be electing a new mayor. Look for complete coverage regarding upcoming elections on pages 18-21, and we look forward to seeing you there!

On page 10, you’ll find part two of Tualatin’s original city manager, Yvonne Addington’s Tualatin Mountain Range – Lost in Oregon. If you missed part one, you can read the column in it’s entirety on our website.

On page 24, there’s an article written by a new contributor and local Tualatin businessman Darrel Boyd. Be sure to check out this really cool project he had an opportunity to get involved with that paired local musicians with the musicians from the island of St. John, still recovering from the Category 5 storm that hit last year.

Please support our advertisers. They make a commitment to Tualatin Life because they care about our community, and recognize the value of having an independent voice in the community. Without them we couldn’t do what we do.

Tualatin Life has always been a community effort. I love hearing from local citizens with new ideas for our little community newspaper. Feel free to contact me directly at the email or phone number below.
