The City of Tualatin Parks & Recreation Department is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a newly completed section of the Tualatin Greenway Trail. The new section of the trail runs from Hazelbrook under Highway 99 to River Ridge Apartments. It stretches half a mile and includes five connections, bringing the total length of the trail to nearly 5 miles long.

The Tualatin River Greenway Trail is part of a larger effort to increase connectivity and community equity in Tualatin. The ongoing additions to the trail are part of the City Council’s vision for a future of environmental sustainability, accessible transportation, and overall community connection.

This new section of the trail will be a wonderful resource for children who walk from the many apartment buildings along the trail to Hazelbrook Middle School, providing them with a safe path under the highway. The trail also serves to improve pedestrian commuters of all ages, with the aim of providing more opportunities for a healthy and active lifestyle.

This event will take place on the new section of the trail by the river, behind the River Ridge Apartment Complex, on August 1 at 1:00 p.m. The ribbon cutting will be preceded by a short program of speakers, including the Mayor of Tualatin and the Parks & Recreation Director. The event will also include activities, fun handouts for all ages, and free ice cream!

Parking for this event will be limited. Community members are highly encouraged to carpool with friends or park at another point along the trail and walk to the ribbon-cutting destination. Some opportune parking places for a nice trail walk can be found along Hazelbrook Road.
