The Tualatin Police Department and the City of Tualatin recently celebrated a remarkable career while also looking to the future of its K-9 team. On July 10, 2025, K-9 Tony officially retired from active duty after years of dedicated service to the community. His legacy was further honored when the Tualatin City Council proclaimed July 14 as “K-9 Tony Day” in the city, a testament to his bravery and excellence.
Tony is now enjoying a well-deserved retirement at home with his handler, Officer Sam Radakovich, and his family. The Tualatin Police Department extends its sincere gratitude to the community partners who supported K-9 Tony throughout his career, notably the Tualatin Community Police Foundation and the Tualatin Animal Clinic, who provided invaluable care and equipment throughout his career, and will continue to assist with his aftercare.
As the department bids farewell to Tony, they also welcome a new addition to the K-9 unit. K-9 Drea, a new drug detection dog, has joined the team and is currently working toward her certification with the Oregon Police Canine Association. Once certified, she will begin full-time detection work alongside Officer Radakovich. The community will have a chance to meet Drea when she is introduced to the Tualatin City Council at the August 11 meeting at 7 p.m
