Broadway Rose Theatre Company presents Waitress, the Broadway-hit musical that celebrates the power of friendship, dreams, courage, and pie. Preview performance is on Thursday, June 26, with opening night on Friday, June 27, and performances continuing through July 20. Evening performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. (no show July 4). Matinees are at 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. A post-show talkback will be hosted at the Saturday matinee on July 5; audio description is available at the Saturday matinee on July 12. Performances are held at the Deb Fennell Auditorium, located at 9000 SW Durham Road in Tigard.

With music and lyrics by Tony Award-nominee Sara Bareilles, this pop musical tells the story of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie maker, stuck in a small town and a loveless marriage. When a baking contest in a nearby county offers her a chance at escape, Jenna fights to reclaim a long-forgotten part of herself. Through the support of her fellow waitresses and an unexpected romance, Jenna begins to find the courage to take a long-abandoned dream off the shelf. Waitress celebrates the power of friendship, dreams, motherhood, the family we choose, and the beauty of a well-baked pie.

Artistic Director, Sharon Maroney, is thrilled to bring this story to the Portland-area. “One of the best things about running a theater is that you get to produce shows that you know will transport your audiences,” said Maroney. “This is one of those shows.” Audiences can expect to be wowed with extraordinary music and impressive choreography, in addition to a captivating narrative.

Based on the 2007 movie of the same title, Waitress will be directed by Lyn Cramer with choreography by Jeremy Duval and musical direction by Billy Thompson. Audiences will be treated to scenic designs by Sean O’Skea, costume design by Debbie Bray, and lighting design by Kristeen Willis. Props design by James Sharinghousen, Brian Karl Moen as sound designer, Jessica Junor as production stage manager, with Shawn Lee and Karen Hill as production managers round out the creative team.

The cast comprises Leah Yorkston as Jenna, Chloe Evans as Becky, and Sydney Valaer as Dawn, with Benjamin Tissell as Dr. Pomatter, Mitchell Bray as Earl, Alec J. Connolly as Cal, and Andy Baldwin as Ogie. Also featured will be Dan Murphy (Joe), Tasha Danner (Francine), Tiara Hendrix-Primus (Nurse Norma), and Zoe Seligman (Lulu). The ensemble comprises Logan Bailey, Ali Bell, Kelsey Meleana Hoeffel, Noah Kino, Dylan Anthony Macabitas, and Gage Martinez.

Tickets are priced from $35 to $70 for adults (depending on date). Tickets in the upper section for ages 6-18 are $20 and ages 19-35 are $25. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.
