Wildfire smoke, winter storms, flooding, extended power outages, and other emergencies have reminded us that preparedness isn’t just for “someday.” It’s one of the best investments we can make for ourselves, our families, and our neighbors.
Join us for the 2026 Tualatin Emergency Preparedness Fair, a free, family-friendly event filled with interactive exhibits, live demonstrations, emergency vehicles, preparedness resources, and fun activities for all ages. Whether you’re just beginning your preparedness journey or looking to update your emergency plans, you’ll leave with practical knowledge and valuable resources.
The annual Emergency Preparedness Fair is proudly sponsored by the Tualatin Public Library, City of Tualatin Public Works, and the Tualatin Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
🌟Learn While Having Fun
This isn’t your typical safety fair. Explore, ask questions, try new equipment, and discover practical ways to prepare for emergencies.
Highlights include:
- Free Go Bag and Collapsible Water Jug (one per household while supplies last)
- More than 30 preparedness exhibitors and live demonstrations featuring:
- Water purification systems
- Emergency food and water storage
- Personal safety for home and travel
- Amateur radio demonstrations including Ham, GMRS, and FRS communications
- The CERT Radio Team’s Mobile Command Unit and solar-powered communications hub
- Emergency and Public Works vehicles including:
- Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue apparatus
- Police vehicles and motorcycles
- Dump trucks and heavy equipment
- A visit from K9 Onyx, Tualatin Police’s therapy dog
- Photo opportunities with emergency vehicles and equipment

Preparedness begins long before an emergency happens.
Learn how to:
- Create a family emergency communication plan
- Build a practical emergency supply kit
- Organize important medical information
- Store food and water safely
- Explore preparedness resources from the American Red Cross, Washington County Emergency Management, and many other community partners

- Finding and using emergency shelters
- Preparing children, older adults, pets, and neighbors with additional needs
- First aid tips and preparedness giveaways
- Learning about Tualatin Neighborhood Ready, a community initiative that helps neighbors support one another during emergencies
🌱 Recover Together
Recovery is strongest when communities work together.
Meet local organizations that help Tualatin prepare for and recover from disasters, including:
- Neighbors Ready!, sharing information on water resilience
- Tualatin CERT, Neighborhood Ready, and Community Information Organizations (CIOs), providing preparedness information and Go Bag resources
- The CERT Radio Team, demonstrating how emergency communications can continue when traditional phone and internet systems are unavailable

Please consider bringing non-perishable food to donate to the Tualatin Food Pantry.
Food pantries play a vital role during disasters by providing immediate assistance when grocery stores or supply chains are disrupted. They also help families throughout the recovery process, making them an essential part of a resilient community.
