The sales pitches show up in your mailboxes, in robocalls and on your TV. Touting Medicare plans, these advertisements promise everything from low premiums to all kinds of extra benefits. The annual enrollment period will go from Oct 15 – Dec 7. You can switch from traditional Medicare to Medicare Advantage or vice versa, or switch between Advantage plans. So, it’s a great opportunity to look at the differences between these two approaches.

Depending on who you listen to, it sometimes appears the other plan is better than your current plan. The most important thing is to be highly informed. Ask yourself, what am I looking for in my medical plan? All plans have to cover what Original Medicare covers. Many are looking for added benefits. Most plans have those benefits to remain competitive with others.
