The City of Tualatin Parks and Recreation Department has been gearing up to enhance your park experience thanks to the Parks & Trails Bond passed in November 2022. The Parks planning division has been working diligently on many of the community-desired upgrades and additions to the entire park system. From riverfront property acquisition to the Veterans Plaza construction documents and working with the Parks Advisory Committee to determine playground replacements at many of the City’s Parks. The community even pitched in by voting on the complete playground replacement for Jurgens Park!
Many of these improvements are now just around the corner. The first round of projects began in early September at Atfalati Park, and this weather-dependent project should be complete by the end of October. Out with the old and in with the new, as crews replace the remaining outdated play features and add a brand new picnic shelter. The momentum continues with upcoming playground enhancements at Ibach Park, set to take place in October. Then, get ready for the complete transformation of Jurgens Park’s playground replacement, scheduled to commence sometime in November.
That’s not all – Tualatin Community Park is also in for an upgrade. Come October, athletic field improvements will light up the scene as the field lights will be replaced with new energy-efficient LED lighting. To ensure safety during these improvements, you will notice temporary fencing or closures in the parks, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding as we strive to bring you these exciting changes.
