Join us in the Library Makerspace where you can make free tea light candles for your Go Bag while watching preparedness videos that will educate and empower you!

The Emergency Preparedness Fair was created to educate our community on how to “BE READY” by offering information that will help you, your family and your neighborhood have a PLAN for emergencies, know how and when you need to PROTECT yourselves and to understand how to RECOVER after a disaster.

MAKE A PLAN

Learn how to prepare for common local hazards quickly and easily. We will help you learn basic preparedness strategies like how to create a family emergency communication plan, what to pack in your emergency kit, and what to do immediately after a disaster. Our exhibitors will share information on food and water storage, Go Stay Kits will teach you how to organize and keep your medical information safe. The American Red Cross will teach kids what they can do to be prepared and the Tualatin Library Makerspace will help people make their own Emergency Tealight Candle for their Go Bag in case of a power outage.

PROTECT YOURSELF

Knowing when and how to protect yourself, your loved ones and your property during a disaster can make all the difference. Tualatin Neighborhood Ready can help you prepare your neighborhood to support each other or make a plan if you need to find a nearby shelter or if you need to evacuate to a safe space. Mud Bay will educate on how to protect our furry family members and OHSU will share information on emergency 1st aid.

RECOVER AFTER DISASTER

The goal of CERT and the Emergency Fair is to give you the tools you need to recover after a disaster so you find the help that you need when you need it most. DayZero Water will talk with us about water purification. Winona Grange will be sharing seeds to support community gardens as a source of food security. The CERT Ham & GMRS Radio Team will demonstrate their solar-powered radio station and share what they do to ensure that the lines of communication stay open in the face of any disaster.

HELP THE COMMUNITY

Yes, you can also help others while attending. Bring a can of food for the Tualatin Food Pantry and help build up their emergency food supplies!

Don’t miss out on this educational and entertaining occasion to enhance your knowledge of Tualatin and emergency preparedness.
