The United States Flag represents a lot of things to a lot of different people. For some it is a promise of a better life, for others it is a symbol of freedom and independence. It represents something different to all of us.
But, how much do you know about our flag? Since June 14th, 1777, when the first official national flag was approved by the Continental Congress, until July 1960, it has been modified 26 times. Early versions of our flag included the British Prince Edward Cross, the Pine Tree and even the Snake flag. Our flag reflects the changes in the lives of its people.
Every year, your local Elks Lodge hosts a Flag Day program. This program honors our national flag with historical information and displays of some of our country’s previous flags by our local Scout Troops. Saturday, June 14th, 2025, Tualatin Valley Elks will present their Flag Day ceremony. The program begins at 2:00 pm and is open to the public. The program lasts approximately 30 minutes.
Following the program, the Elks will provide complimentary hot dogs, chips and soda for attendees.
The Tualatin Valley Lodge is located immediately west of Warm Springs Dental at 8350 S.W. Warm Springs Street in Tualatin.
