It’s time to lace up your running shoes – the Regatta Run is back for 2022!

The 2021 Regatta Run raised over $30,000 for scholarships and educational programs for Tualatin youth.
The 2021 Regatta Run raised over $30,000 for scholarships and educational programs for Tualatin youth.

On Sunday, October 16, runners and walkers will join up at Tualatin Community Park for this fun race, which is a fundraiser benefiting the youth of Tualatin. Presented by the Rotary Club of Tualatin, the 5K trek will take you through scenic trails from Community Park to Cook Park and back.

Our course is flat, fast, and friendly for runners, walkers, stroller riders, and four-legged friends. Come enjoy the autumn splendor on display in our beautiful parks while you traverse the cross-country trail, with pathways of forested twists and turns plus easy concrete straightaways.

Participants are encouraged to wear a costume for extra fun, and stay for a special trick-or-treating experience for youth held after the race. Tualatin High School students will line the course and bring a bit of spooky joy with them. The Crimsonaires will kick off the event, and the VFW will host a breakfast after the race.

Net proceeds from the 2022 Regatta Run support Tualatin Rotary’s first-generation college scholarships for Tualatin High School students, as well as other opportunities for school-aged children in our community. Last year’s race raised more than $30,000 for these educational programs.

Register online at regattarun.com to participate in the race. Race start time is 9am, with on-site registration opening at 7:30am. Pick up your race packet and t-shirt at Road Runner Sports in Nyberg Woods Shopping Center on the Thursday before the race. Children under the age of 12 can participate for free.

The Regatta Run was founded 13 years ago to honor the service and sacrifice of Corporal Matthew Lembke. Matt was a Tualatin High School graduate and Marine, who died while serving in Afghanistan in 2009. His sacrifice and service has inspired us to support youth and their future potential. More than $227,000 in scholarships were awarded in Matt’s name over the first decade of the event.

Now sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tualatin, the Regatta Run supports the club’s annual scholarship to a Tualatin High School junior who is a first-generation college student with demonstrated family need and a record of service to the community. The award recipient receives ongoing mentoring from a Rotarian and $5000 each year up to four years of college in Oregon.

Whether you are a serious runner, a casual walker, or someone who wants to support educational opportunities for Tualatin’s youth, the Regatta Run is a can’t miss event! If you cannot attend but want to contribute, you can register as a non-participant. Your generosity will impact youth in our community for years to come.

In support of the Regatta Run, the Rotary Club of Tualatin will host the Tualatin Chamber’s AM Networking event on Friday, September 30, 7:30-9am. Please join us for continental breakfast and networking at Edward Jones, Greg McMillin’s office, at 7420 SW Bridgeport Road, Suite 201B.
