Star Wars All Month @ Tualatin Makerspace

It is time to celebrate all things Star Wars! Join us in the Makerspace during our Open Lab hours to make Perler bead Star Wars creations and mini light up light sabers for this month’s projects. May the Fourth be with you! For all ages.

Makerspace Open Labs take place on the following weekly schedule:

  • Sundays, 1:30 pm – 5:30 pm
  • Tuesdays, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm 
  • Thursdays, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
  • Saturdays, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Postpartum Group

Thursdays in May, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the community room

Did you recently have a baby? Do you questions? Are you feeling all the feelings? Join postpartum doula Krystal Williams for a program of connection and caring for new moms. No registration required. Meets in the Library Community Room.

Teen Movie Night

Fridays, May 5th and May 26th,  6:00pm

Join other teens in a fun Friday night. Vote for and watch a movie! Held in the Teen Room.

Classical Up Close

May 7th, 11:30 am and 1:00 pm

Classical Up Close offers free chamber music performed by members of the Oregon Symphony. Join us for two special performances, starting at 11:30 am and 1:00 pm respectively, for children of all ages and their families! Musicians will introduce instruments from the orchestra and perform fun music of different styles and periods. Held in the Community Room.

Goodwill Job Connection Job Fair

Tuesday, May 9th, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Thinking about a job change? Local employers will be at our Goodwill Job Connection Fair with a variety of roles. Learn what jobseekers services Goodwill has, and talk with local companies about their opportunities. Held in the Community Room.

Clothing Repair Fair

Wednesday, May 10th, 5:30-7:30 pm

Losing your change through holes in your pockets? Have a pair of pants that are just too long? Come to the Makerspace and have our volunteers show you how to repair your clothes and keep them out of a landfill. For ages 12 and up.

Fiber Arts!

Thursday, May 11th, from 6:00 to 7:30pm

Are you a knitter? Do you crochet? Is weaving your passion? Join us the 2nd Thursday of each month for conversation and crafting. All skill levels welcome. Held in the Makerspace.

LEGO Maniacs!

Saturday, May 13th, 2:00 pm

Calling all LEGO Maniacs! Master Builder Blair is back with more exciting LEGO challenges. He provides the LEGOs, you just come with your engineering ideas! For kids in grades 1 through 5. Held in the Makerspace.

Baby Sign Sunday

Sunday, May 14th, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Join Baby Sign expert Jenny Hodges on the second Sunday of each month for an hour of sign language and play for babies and tots ages 0-3 (and their parents and caregivers). Jenny will read books and sing songs, weaving sign language throughout and explaining the ways to use sign language with your little ones. Registration is encouraged but not required

Crafternoon – Paper

For kids grades K through 5
Wednesday, May 17th from 4:00 to 5:00pm and Saturday, May 27th at 2:00 pm

Come to Crafternoon, featuring a great new craft every month! Join us at 4:00 pm on the third Wednesday OR catch the repeat on at 2:00 pm on the fourth Saturday. May’s craft will involve paper!

Art Studio: Drawing

Thursday, May 18th, 6:00 – 7:00pm
Registration required • For ages 15 and up

Try a different style of painting each month in our Art Studio! You can use the materials in the Makerspace, or feel free to bring your own materials if you like. Don’t forget to bring your creativity!

In May we will be exploring drawing.

Zombie Cannibal Asylum: an escape room adventure

Friday. May 19th • For students in grades 6-12
Registration required

A murder has taken place at the Penderghast Asylum. Only zombies witnessed the crime and they are irredeemably insane! Solve the clues and figure out who done it!

Origami 

Saturday, May 20th, 12:00pm to 3:00 pm

Make paper creations with the Portland Oregon Paper Shapers! Challenge yourself with a complex origami masterpiece, or keep it simple while learning the basics. Held in the Community Room

Join librarian Doug at Stickmen Brewing on the final Tuesday of the month for several rounds of trivia! Enjoy fabulous drinks and pizza, as well as prizes for the winners! For adults.

Summer Reading is Coming!

Summer Reading, one of the most exciting times of the year, will be returning to Tualatin Public Library on June 1st. Swing by the library and sign up – you’ll receive your reading log, some goodies, and of course a FREE BOOK!
