Intercambio Language Exchange

Science Spectacular

Tuesdays, July 18th – August 1st, 1:00 pm

Explosions! Rockets! Broken eggs! Join us for some spectacular science on Tuesdays this summer. We’ll be on the plaza in front of the library doing wacky demonstrations and leading awesome experiments. For elementary school age children. Free!

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder

Makers in Residence Workshop: Lucha Libre Masks

Thursday, July 20th, 2:00 pm
Registration required | For ages 10 and up

Our summer Makers in Residence, Nelda Reyes and Gerardo Calderón, will teach you how to make a lucha libre (professional wrestling) mask. Design an expressive disguise inspired by a favorite animal, fictional character, or real-life hero for your wrestling persona, just like Mexico’s famed luchadores. All supplies are provided.

Taphouse Trivia

Join librarian Doug at Stickmen Brewing (19475 SW 118th Ave STE 1, Tualatin, OR 97062) on the final Tuesday of the month for several rounds of trivia! Enjoy fabulous drinks and pizza, as well as prizes for the winners! For adults.

Teen Taste Off

Makers in Residence Workshop: Corn Husk Puppets

Thursday, July 27th, 2:00 pm
Registration required
For ages 10 and up

Our summer Makers in Residence, Nelda Reyes and Gerardo Calderón, will teach you how to craft your own stick or finger puppets out of colored corn husk and decorate them with other corn materials. You can choose to make a puppet based on a character, an animal, or a fantastic being. All materials provided.

The Bird Man

Free tickets available starting at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 29 at the Information Desk of the Library. You must have a ticket to attend. For all ages. Held in the Community Room.

The beauty and majesty of birds will be on full display as Oregon’s Bird Man, Karl Anderson, brings some of his flock to the library. If you love wild animals, you do not want to miss this show! 

Rob Rainwater

Warm, personal songwriting that tells a story. Rob Rainwater is a local multi-instrumental musician whose songs are inspired from a background in folk, Americana, bluegrass, and classic rock. Held around the library hearth. Free.

Karaoke Fever: Retro Night

Registration required if you’d like to sing

Find your song and use your voice during our karaoke series! We’ll bring the snacks and you bring the energy! For kids, teens, and adults. Families welcome! Costumes encouraged! Held in the Community Room.

August Makerspace Project: Pan Flutes

Each month the Makerspace will have a featured theme with projects everyone is invited to try. We’ll supply the materials, tools, and instructions. Come in and work on your project all month long in August during our Open Lab hours!

August’s featured project is pan flutes, courtesy of Tualatin Public Library’s summer Makers in Residence, Nelda Reyes and Gerardo Calderón!

Open Lab hours from June through August are as follows:

Bring a sketch book and join the summer art studio series! We will meet at the library at 5:30 pm and head to the Ice Age Trail behind the library to sketch in nature as weather permits.

Willamette Valley Chamber Musical Festival

Three performances: Fridays, August 4th,  11th  and 18th, 10:30 am

The Willamette Valley Chamber Music Festival returns with well-loved pieces from the classical repertoire and new pieces from contemporary composers. Hear these world-class musicians in an up-close setting on our plaza.

Wood Burning Basics

Join Rachel Strauss, pyrography expert and author of The Wood Burn Book: An Essential Guide to the Art of Pyrography, as she guides you through the basics of this beautiful art form. 

Sound Baths

For adults and ages 12+ (under 15 with parent preferred).

Experience a new way to chill out. Sound baths are immersive experiences in which you are laying on a floormat, letting your mind come to rest while the room fills with soothing ambient sound. Led by Kammy Barrett of Siren Sound Bath.

Super Saturday: Bracelet Making

For kids in grades K through 5

Create a bracelet with your name, a favorite word, your pets name, or simply show off your favorite colors. Not a bracelet fan? Perhaps a necklace or keychain is more your speed. Whatever the form, beads are the focus in this final Super Saturday of the summer.
