The Tualatin Library Foundation will host its 11th annual Vine2Wine celebration at the Tualatin public library on October 14. The event will run from 7 – 10 p.m. that day and is open to the general public.

Tickets are available on the Foundation website, TualatinLibraryFoundation.org or at the library help desk. Like previous years, the event focuses on fundraising to benefit the endowment of the Foundation. Those funds are returned to the library as grants for book program purchases, construction projects, equipment purchases, etc.

This year’s Vine2Wine event will have wine tastings, wine-paired food samples, live music, a viticulturist speaking about Oregon terroir, a book author, a silent auction, and a wall of wine. And, of course, patrons will have the opportunity to see the beautiful library building, an important pillar of the community, along with the Makerspace, its newest addition.

Six premium northwest wineries from Oregon will headline the event. Each has carefully selected wines that they wish to feature that evening.

The variety they bring this year is as wide as any prior Vine2Wine event. They are the masters of their trade. They include Abacela, Buddha Kat, Catman Cellars, Lujon Wine Cellars and Sineann. In addition to the wineries, a mixologist, Straightaway Cocktails, will be joining this year. It operates in the Portland area and has a facility at the local Bridgeport Village. Like the wineries, it will pour sample tastes for those who want to mix it up a little.

Kevin Karrick and Susan Sandell will provide music for the evening. Kevin is an acoustic guitarist who plays a range of music beginning from the 70s and forward. Susan is an accomplished vocalist who accompanies Kevin. They will play the entirety of the event. If you want a break from the music, you may join one of the evening’s guest speakers. Louis Delelee, an OSU Faculty Research Assistant, will speak about soils and the terroir of Oregon and their effect on grape character and quality. An author will also speak about recent book titles and experiences in the literary world.

The Foundation is able to thrive because of events like this and the people who come together to celebrate them. We hope you will join us that day for fun, wine, food, music and an educational evening.

The Foundation is grateful to Umpqua Bank, Charles Schwab, and Wilco Farm Stores for their sponsorship of the event.
