The recent horrific fires in California and the devastating weather to the east remind us of the importance of preparation for emergencies. When transportation and communication were interrupted and first responders were stretched thin, CERT and ham radio teams provided support and communication to their neighborhoods in their time of desperate need. We’ve learned that federal, state, and local governments can get overwhelmed. When that happens, CERT and ham radio can step up. For example, read this recent story from North Carolina: tinyurl.com/3yjde7su.

Help your family, neighbors, and our beautiful city of Tualatin by joining the CERT and Ham Team Volunteers today.

If disaster came to Tualatin, would you be ready? Do you know how to keep your family safe or help your neighbors if needed? Whether you’re organizing your “go bag”, brushing up on basic first-aid skills, or preparing for fires and floods, the Tualatin Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is here to help.

CERT trains Tualatin volunteers to prepare for and respond to emergencies. Members learn about local hazards and develop vital skills like fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Beyond training, CERT provides ongoing opportunities to practice skills and serve the community, making Tualatin more resilient to whatever comes next.

This FEMA-backed program offers a 25-hour course led by trained instructors, teaching essential skills to use when emergency services may not be available. We also offer additional training and certification in ham and GMRS radios and we have two weekly net/on-air check-ins.

Join the CERT team and help your family, friends, and neighbors stay prepared.

  • Spring 2023 training begins March 4th
