This Fall and through to January, you will find an extraordinary art show at the Tualatin Library. Come see a collection of exuberant paintings—mostly acrylic and some mixed-media pieces—by Linda Rennie, which give you an up-close-and-personal view of animals from our world and the wild! Unlike typical animal portraits you may be familiar with, these capture personalities and cool textures set against fabulous colorful backgrounds.

About herself, Linda says, “I did not take painting seriously until after I retired. I knew I loved the idea of creating something beautiful, but I had never had any formal training and did not know if I had any talent.” She did not let that stop her. She started taking workshops at the Portland Fine Arts Guild and found her artistic voice. The classes there were fun with different teachers, techniques, and mediums, and she was hooked.
She says, “The more I learned, the more I wanted to create, experiment, play with paint on paper, on boards, on canvas. And then the internet came along with Pinterest and other image-sharing platforms that encouraged creativity and my own content creation. Again, I was hooked to take on new subject matter and approaches.”
Her favorite subject area has been animals, all kinds of animals. Domestic. Wildlife. Small. Large. She paints everything, but the biggest part of her collection and her greatest enthusiasm has been the animal kingdom. She says, “My learning and experimentation continues, and it’s a wonderful experience. I hope the journey never ends.”

Linda is also a colorful person. A fine storyteller, she will crack up a room with hilarious stories and remembrances from her work life in the travel industry. She is a creative problem-solver, a loyal and caring friend. She is a cat mama. In the art show, there is a self-portrait showing a lady with a cat on her head, which tells the whole story.
You don’t want to miss this delightful show. Come and enjoy it, and bring a friend who is an animal lover. They will be tickled along with you.
