Winsor Knot Productions sets its sights on the local stage this fall as it brings to life its first theater production, Fiona in the Middle. An original musical, with book and lyrics written by father-daughter duo, Jenny Lind Conlee and the late Jeff Winsor, and music by Kenny Snyder.

When Jeff and Jenny formed Winsor Knot Productions, the intention was to start producing plays. The pair first dabbled in some sketch comedy-type video shorts, but the goal was always theater. The heart behind this was the create more opportunities for Jenny, who has been acting, singing, writing and doing stand-up comedy in the Portland area for 15 years. Jeff’s desire was to collaborate with Jenny on an original piece for the pair to present. Brainstorming for this work began in October 2022. By Jeff’s passing in October 2023, he had written one song, and the duo had nearly finished the first Act. This left Jenny to finish the work.

Through tears and grief, Jenny put ink to page to complete what became Fiona in the Middle. Fiona in the Middle at its core is a story of love and loss. Yet, it remains hopeful. It has toe-tapping melodies and moments of humor that help make tough topics more palatable.

The show is truly a family affair! Jenny’s mom, stepdad, and stepmom have been part of the process, helping with concessions, set and costumes, and lending their unending support. Additionally, co-directors Steve Glavan and Karissa Wheelock are also father-daughter team, who not only partner to bring the best performances out of the cast, but are also in the cast themselves! They’ve been an integral part of making Fiona what it is today.

Come out on October 5, 7pm, at Sherwood Center for the Arts, as Winsor Knot presents a unique staged reading musical experience in honor of Jeff Winsor.
