Do you wonder what’s going on with the road construction along Boones Ferry Rd? Would you like to ask the Tualatin Police a question about something in your neighborhood? Are you curious about land use developments in Tualatin? Do you want to get more involved in your neighborhood?
The Martinazzi Woods Community Involvement Organization (CIO) will be hosting its annual CIO meeting on Thursday, October 10 at 6:30 at the Community Room at Marquis, 19805 SW Boones Ferry Road. It’s your chance to ask questions, get involved and meet your neighbors. Tualatin is divided into six residential CIOs to allow for neighborhood awareness, community building and information sharing among neighbors. Martinazzi Woods CIO lies between SW Warm Springs and SW Blake Streets, and between SW Boones Ferry Rd and the I5 freeway. All Martinazzi Woods CIO residents are encouraged to attend the meeting.
We will have presentations by Tualatin Police, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, as well as presentations by City of Tualatin representatives on the City’s transportation plan, public transit changes and land use updates. We’ll also talk about Tualatin Neighborhood Ready – a program to help you and your neighbors prepare for a disaster. Finally, we’ll have elections for CIO officers.
As president of Martinazzi Woods CIO, I’ve become more involved in my community than in the previous forty years I’ve lived here. I’ve become aware of land use issues, especially those affecting all of us who live along Boones Ferry Rd. I’ve met more of my neighbors and discussed common issues, and many times realized the amount of misinformation that is circulating, especially on land use. The Byrom CIO was recently instrumental in getting a zoning change request withdrawn on property along Norwood. CIOs do have an impact in our community.
