Intercambio Language Exchange

Wednesdays at 4:30 pm

Join us each Wednesday in the Library Community Room for an informal and relaxed gathering where you can practice language learning! Gain confidence by learning from others and meet new friends!

Makerspace Open Lab

Makerspace Open Labs are for anyone who wants to check out the space and use our equipment to make cool things. Room assistants are available to guide you in the basic use of the tools and technology. Come in with an idea and leave with a finished project! 

Makerspace Open Labs take place on the following weekly schedule:

  • Tuesdays, 5:30 – 7:30PM
  • Thursdays, 4:00 – 6:00PM
  • Saturdays, 10:00 AM – 1:00PM 
  • Sundays, 1:30 – 5:30PM

Each month we provide the materials, tools, and instructions for a featured Makerspace project that everyone is invited to try. October’s featured project is Glow-in-the-Dark Ghosts.

How the Ice Age Floods Shaped Our Region

Thursday, September 26, 6:30 – 8:00 pm

Local experts Mike Full and David Ellingson will share stories of fossil discoveries in the region and discuss how the Ice Age Floods shaped the Willamette Valley. Designed for adults, but anyone is welcome to attend.

Presented by the Ice Age F loods Institute.

Old Growth Playback

Sunday, September 29, 2:00 – 3:00 pm

What if the forest could sing to you? What would the next generation of trees sound like? Musician Lisa Schonberg (Explode Into Colors, Secret Drum Band) made field recordings in Oregon forests and turned them into song. Hear her compositions in spatial sound and learn about her process. Adults and teens.

Girls Who Code

Tuesdays, October 1 through December 3, 4:00 – 5:00 pm

Girls Who Code Clubs are spaces where girls can join a sisterhood of supportive peers and use computer science to change the world. When you join a Club, you will learn by reading excerpts from our books Learn to Code and Change the World and The Friendship Code, practice new skills by completing fun and simple online coding tutorials, and build community through interactive activities with the rest of your Club.

This club will run for 10 weeks and welcomes anyone who identifies as a girl. Please bring your own computer or tablet. Chromebooks will be available for those who cannot bring their own device.

For students in grades 3-5. Registration is required. Held in the Makerspace.

Shrunken Regatta: Fantasy Fairyland

Monday, October 7 through Monday, October 28

The Shrunken Regatta is back for its fourth year, and this year’s theme is ‘Fantasy Fairyland’. Swing by the library to pick up your miniature pumpkin decorating kit, and design your favorite ferocious dragon, whimsical wizard, plucky pixie, or whatever your heart desires. Our top three favorites will win a $20 Amazon gift card!

Goodwill Job Connection Fair

Tuesday, October 8, 1:00 – 3:00 pm

Connect with local employers who may be offering the perfect role for your next career move. Goodwill Job Connection will have information about their helpful services for job seekers. For adults. Held in the Community Room.

Spooky Movie Matinee

Wednesday, October 9, 2:00 – 3:00 pm

School’s out for the day! Looking for something fun to do? Join us at the library for a favorite Halloween movie just for you. We’ll also have delicious popcorn to munch on while you watch. It’s sure to be a fun and spook-tacular afternoon!

For kids in grades K-5. Registration is recommended. Held in the Community Room.

Vine 2 Wine

Saturday, October 12, 7:00 – 10:00 pm

Tualatin Library Foundation’s premiere fundraising event, Vine 2 Wine, returns this October! Vine2Wine offers premium wine tastings from local vineyards, paired with gourmet food samplings, live music, an auction and more.

Teen Mini Tourney: Super Smash Bros

Sunday, October 13, 2:00 – 4:00 pm

Calling all teens! Join us for a mini Super Smash Bros. tournament at the library. Show off your skills, compete with friends and battle for glory! Prizes for top players! Snacks provided. Don’t miss out on the fun! Registration is recommended but not required. Held in the Teen Room.

Origami

Saturday, October 19, 12:00 to 3:00 pm

Make folded paper creations with the Portland Oregon Paper Shapers! Challenge yourself with a complex origami masterpiece, or keep it simple while learning the basics. For all ages. Held in the Community Room.
