Joint Committee on Transportation – Special Subcommittee on Transportation Planning (Tolling) Meeting
This special subcommittee was formed by the Oregon Legislature when the moratorium was put on tolling by the governor. The subcommittee is focusing on evaluating a tolling program that includes five key areas of exploration: road system capacity, traffic, and congestion; expected outcomes of tolling on driver behaviors and travel patterns; effectiveness, safety, and diversion impacts of gantry locations; logistics of toll collection; and tolling rate (usage fee). The subcommittee will be meeting and accepting public comment in our local area in December:
• 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, December 14th, Wilsonville City Council Chambers at City Hall (29799 SW Town Center Loop East, Wilsonville), Wilsonville/Charbonneau/Lake Oswego/Tualatin
I highly encourage you to attend and let the legislators know how you feel about the state of our freeway system, how ODOT has done in working with residents and jurisdictions, and their plans to collect fees for its use. You will have two minutes to state your opinion on concerns such as:
- Impact on local residents with limited alternative routes
- Public transportation
- Proximity to retirement communities
