Well, I’ve made it to the fourth issue, so I guess I’m here to stay. I’m finally starting to get my “sea legs!”
Summer is in full swing and there’s an endless array of activities and events lined up in our fine city. The ArtSplash Art Show and Sale is this weekend, Friday through Sunday. You can get the full schedule on page 5. The following weekend, Marquis Tualatin is putting on a Car Show and BBQ (pg. 7) with all proceeds benefitting Meals on Wheels People Tualatin, a worthwhile cause that does a lot of good locally. The weekend after that, it’s time for the 66th Annual Crawfish Festival (below). It’s not hard to find a reason to get out of the house this time of year!
In case you haven’t heard, Tualatin has a new chief of police. Tualatin Life has always maintained a great relationship with our local police department and as the “new guy” at Tualatin Life, it was important for me to re-establish that relationship with incoming Chief Bill Steele. If you’ve been paying any kind of attention to the news lately, you realize it’s not easy wearing the uniform. I was pleased to hear that he’s so far received an overwhelmingly positive welcome from the citizens of Tualatin. We talked about the importance of citizens being alert, being involved, and getting to know their neighbors. On page 8, Tualatin Police Department spokesperson Jennifer Massey provides a great opportunity to do just that through the National Night Out Program.
Due to the massive support of our contributors and advertisers alike, this issue is little larger than we’ve done lately. The last few issues have been jam-packed from cover to cover, and I haven’t been able to publish everything that we’ve received – something I really don’t like to do. This month, there were just too many great articles so I figured it was worth the extra effort to add a few more pages. I always appreciate feedback and I’m interested in hearing what you think about the extra four pages… Is it too much? Not enough? You can call or email if you have something to say (or for any other reason for that matter). If you haven’t already “liked” us on Facebook, that’s another great avenue to keep in touch.
