CIOs Approve Formulation of New Downtown CIO
I’m happy to share that Tualatin residents living in and around downtown are one step closer to having their own Community Involvement Organization, or Downtown CIO. This would give downtown residents a stronger connection with City government and a collective voice to support the livability of their neighborhood.
On July 14, CIO leadership voted to approve a revised CIO boundary map. East CIO and Riverpark CIO had previously approved the revised map as well. Please see the attached map for the proposed new boundary area.
The reason for this change is simple. Since the original CIO boundaries were established, new housing has been built, and hundreds of residents now live outside the existing CIO areas. Many of these neighbors live in multi-family housing near downtown and share concerns and interests directly connected to downtown.
CIO leaders will meet with the Tualatin City Council on August 10 to recommend that the Council direct City staff to review the current ordinances and prepare the CIO-approved changes for consideration later this year. We are hopeful the Council will support this next step.
