Tualatin is a city worth protecting, and a community with a bright future. But as families and businesses face rising costs, City Hall must make careful choices, respect every public dollar, and focus on the services residents depend on. That is why I am announcing my candidacy for Mayor.
I am running to bring an independent voice, practical leadership, and clear priorities to City Hall. Every new fee, tax, position, or program should have a documented need, a full accounting of its cost, and measurable results. Residents should never have to wonder whether their money is being used wisely.
As Mayor, I will:
- Protect household budgets by challenging unnecessary taxes, fees, and spending.
- Make public safety a top priority by supporting our police and improving neighborhood, traffic, and pedestrian safety.
- Plan ahead for reliable roads, water systems, utilities, parks, and public facilities while ensuring growth does not outpace our infrastructure.
- Help local businesses succeed through simpler permitting, clear timelines, fewer unnecessary barriers, and more workforce and apprenticeship opportunities for young people.
- Keep City Hall accountable, accessible, and focused on serving the entire community.
My public-service journey began at Bridgeport Elementary, where I became known as the “crosswalk dad.” I later served on the board of Tualatin Together, supporting its work with local youth and families. I also served nine years on the Tigard-Tualatin School District Budget Committee, finishing as vice chair, before voters elected me to the Tualatin City Council in 2022.
I was born in Mexico to immigrant parents, have lived in Oregon for more than 30 years, became a United States citizen in 2021, and am the proud father of two. As a former small-business owner and a community business-development professional, I understand how government decisions affect household budgets, employers, and opportunity.
The office of Mayor is nonpartisan, and my campaign will be truly independent. I will not seek or accept endorsements. I will owe no political favors to any party, organization, elected official, or outside interest. My responsibility will be to Tualatin residents, and my decisions will be guided by what our neighbors need, not national politics.
On the City Council, I have been willing to ask difficult questions, particularly when proposals would increase costs for residents. As Mayor, I will continue listening, speaking honestly, and making decisions based on what is right for Tualatin.
