Our very own Tualatin High School’s marching band was awarded the Band Sweepstakes Award (Best Band in Parade) title at the 117th Grand Floral Parade on June 7, 2025. For our devoted director, Reggie Stegmeier, and his assistant, Ron Moholt, this was definitely a well-deserved honor after a busy school year filled with over 50 performances between the band and orchestra.
The marching band consists of over 90 marchers led by two senior-appointed drum majors, ten parent volunteers and our very own Wolfie. While the band plays together all year, they march in the Fall at homecoming and again through the streets of Portland for the Rose Parade. To prepare, they meet after school for practices leading up to the big day. Additionally, numerous parent volunteers assisted with uniform fittings, which included new plumes and gloves, as well as strict guidelines regarding all-black shoes. The time and effort paid off as our band wowed the crowd as well as the judges! As the band marched and played their songs for the parade watchers, they were accompanied by Tualatin High School’s state champion cheer team, as well as our talented color guard team. Altogether, they were an impressive and enthusiastic addition to the time-honored Portland Rose Parade.
“The Tualatin High School Timberwolves Marching Band (OR) delivered an unforgettable performance at the 2025 Portland Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade,” wrote marching.com. Their energy was contagious, captivating the massive crowd that lined the streets of downtown Portland on a perfect, sunny day. Way to go, TuHS Band!”
Participating in the parade is the culminating event for these hard-working students who have three formal concerts during the year in addition to festivals, school visits, TTSD staff events, pep assemblies and seasonal music at school lunchtimes, community event appearances such as the Pumpkin Regatta and Brew Fest, concerts for residents at The Marquis and of course pep band at all home games.
