Serving our Community in a Special Way

You work hard for what you have. Then, you have to continue working hard to keep it. Business leaders in our community Todd Gydesen of Guild Mortgage and Vicki Gile of Gile Group/Premiere Property Group understand this. But what’s even more special about these individuals is that they know that sometimes – it’s not enough. That combined with a desire to give back is why the pair have an ongoing partnership to serve and assist our community in special and unique ways.

Backpack Buddies

Did you know that for many students in need, the only meals they receive are the ones provided at school? Enter Backpack Buddies, a special program that send kids home with a backpack of groceries for the weekend to make sure they not only eat, but aren’t burdened with the question “Will I eat today?”. This program doesn’t just provide food – it’s providing peace of mind and comfort to students and families.

This month, they dropped five hundred grocery bags on doorsteps in Tualatin to collect items for the food pantry to stock up for Backpack Buddies. They even teamed up with Tualatin High School Football coach, Dan Lever, and the team of students in picking up the full grocery bags from doorsteps. Gydesen and Gile also advertised this collection at their expense because it is so important to them. Gile and her family sorted out all of groceries and dispersed eight large boxes to three local schools; Bridgeport, Byrom and Tualatin Elementary.

Shred Day

Shred Day is awesome! It takes place at Tualatin High School and proceeds from the event go toward the school’s band and orchestra program. Gydesen and Gile provide everything from the shred truck and advertising, to food for the event. Shred Day takes place in the Spring, so be on the look out for that in the near future!

Community Garage Sale

This is just a simple service the dynamic duo provides to help neighbors in the community pool resources for success by having a large gathering in hopes of selling more stuff. Who doesn’t want to declutter? Who doesn’t want to get rid of that desk lamp that’s been sitting in their garage since college? The community garage sale is the perfect opportunity to do so. This is especially great for those of us who hate the hassle of garage sales but need to get rid of items. One person’s junk is another man’s coffee table. Gile Group/Guild Mortgage provides advertising on Facebook, Tualatin Life and NextDoor.com. They also provide a garage sale sign, price stickers and a interactive on-line map of participant locations and donuts to start the participants day off right. All the participant needs to do is get their items for sale ready to go in the convenience of their own garage.
